ALPSVision systems offer additional inspections that may be integrated within ALPS rotary leak testing machines. The patented systems take advantage of the existing rotary platform, bottle handling, control system and reject function to combine inspections into a single downstream machine. The customer gains the benefits of a single source supplier with recognized container handling expertise and a business focused on assuring plastic container integrity.

The system utilizes state-of-the-art vision technology with an ALPS designed Windows-based user interface specific to each inspection. Cameras and lighting are mounted to the rotary machine with the inspections taking place at various locations while the bottles are under control. The rotary air reject device ejects defective products as they exit the machine.

The Seal Surface Inspection occurs over the infeed starwheel as bottles are transferred from the conveyor into the rotary turntable.

This inspection focuses on the top of the bottle to detect seal surface nicks and verify seal surface width, I.D. or O.D. and ovality.

Alternately, a Neck Flange inspection can be performed in this station.

The Neck Finish Inspection occurs on the rear of the rotary machine, while the test probe is sealed on the bottle during the leak test.

Lighting is beamed from both sides of the container and reflected back to the camera from plates using vertical black and white stripes.

This inspection gauges various horizontal (i.e. T, E, A) and vertical (i.e. H) neck finish dimensions.

The Base Inspection occurs over the exit starwheel as bottles are transferred from the rotary turntable back to the conveyor.

Continuous lighting is located underneath the bottles within the deadplate. The image is acquired from the top of the bottle.

This inspection verifies gate position, presence of base features and detects base folds if applicable.
